
Phillip has an extensive musical education at his disposal. He received a Bachelor Degree at the Berklee College of Music and also studied with Kenny Barron and Niels-Henning Orsted Pedersen.
Philipp has toured the USA and Europe both as a solo pianist and as a band member. His stylistic spectrum covers Jazz, Pop, Funk, Soul and Classical music. He composed and played theater music in the Heidelberg and Freiburg city theaters, in the AAK Freiburg, and in Tübingen’s Landestheater. He also has written compositions for big bands and small ensembles as well as jingles for advertising spots. As a flexible accompanist, Philipp has taken part in numerous CD productions; under his own name he has recorded CDs with the Latin jazz star Victor Mendoza and his wife Claudia Moehrke (“Ein Ehepaar pakt aus” – adaption of German Christmas Songs, 2001).
He has been active as a teacher at home and abroad, is a special writer for Keyboard Magazine, and has had several books published: “Klavierspielen” (Falken-Verlag), “Das Groove-Piano-Buch” (Advanced Music), and “Jazzpiano solo Koncept” (AMA Verlag). His book, “Voicingconcepts” (AMA Verlag), was awarded the Musikeditionspreis in 1998.
