Norbert Gottschalk is a singer who knows how to use his voice as an instrument, because he also performs live as a first-rate guitar and trumpet player.
He has played concerts with many national and international jazz greats, appeared on tour at the biggest jazz festivals, and also performed for radio and TV. He is internationally highly recognized as a virtuoso scat singer. Moreover, Norbert Gottschalk works as lyricist and composer for various American and German colleagues.
Both of his trio/quartet CDs, “Light-Weight-Sight” (German Record Critics’ Award) and “Two Sessions” have been enthusiastically received by the trade press as well as the listening public.
He has also produced three extremely successful CDs with his duo partner, guitarist Frank Haunschild.
His latest release is an already much-acclaimed solo CD that reflects the total spectrum of his abilities as a singer and instrumentalist.
Norbert Gottschalk teaches jazz voice and vocal improvisation at the International Music College Freiburg and at the State Conservatory for Music in Maastricht, Netherlands, and he is also a much-in-demand instructor at prestigious workshops in Germany and other countries.
